ABOUT ME

I am an analytical chemist and, since 2012, a full professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where I lead the Applied Analytical Chemistry group.


My research centers on modern separation science and the analysis of complex samples - from metabolomics and lipidomics to the development of new ion sources, multidimensional LC and GC, ion mobility, mass spectrometry, and product analysis.

Beyond my academic work, I consult for international companies and collaborate with partners worldwide.
I also help organize the analytica conferences in the USA, China, and Vietnam, and  I am an advisory board member of the analytica Munich.

 

In 2018 I established the Teaching and Research Center for Separation (TRC) together with Agilent Technologies.

​

In 2009, I co-founded iGenTraX UG, a company developing innovative ion sources for mass spectrometers.

​
