About me
I am an analytical chemist and since 2013 a full professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen and the chair of the Institute of Applied Analytical Chemistry.

My main research areas are separation science, with a particular focus on

-
the analysis of complex samples, such as Chinese herbal medicine,
-
the development of ion sources,
-
the use and optimization of multidimensional LC and GC,
-
ion mobility-mass spectrometry, and
-
Origin-of-Life.

In 2009 I co-founded the company iGenTraX UG, which develops new ion sources for mass spectrometers.
Since 2013 I am a consultant for various international companies and organizing – together with international partners – Sino-German workshops and analytica conferences in China and Vietnam.

In 2018 I have founded the Teaching and Research Center for Separation (TRC) together with Agilent Technologies at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
